Shearwater GeoServices hosted their annual European User Group Meeting on Wednesday 23rd October, once again at the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, London, UK.

We had clients from all over Europe including representatives from super-major oil & gas exploration companies, major contractors, consultants and academia present, with our largest attendance to date.

The introduction and Shearwater update was given by Roy Bampton (VP REVEAL) who was followed by four sessions of live demonstrations of the latest advances and developments. The team gave presentations and demos including updates to the user interface, geophysics, support, ground roll denoise and the new wavelet tool. We are always pleased with the level of audience participation and this year was no exception. Our vibrant user community had many questions and comments throughout the day and as always, the discussion of the roadmap finished up the formal presentation section of the day.

The late afternoon break-out session allowed for several one-on-one meetings to take place with Ken Smith and Huy Mai in great demand. Queues formed as people waited but the whole team managed to speak to everyone who had questions, and these continued after 5pm.

As is customary the event was rounded off with an evening meal, and again we followed last years example and were well fed in The Blue Boar. We were very pleased that several clients took us up on the offer and joined us. Several brave souls continued the night in central London and rumour has it karaoke was involved.

We look forward to hosting another successful User Group Meeting for our European clients late next year, and our North, Central & South American clients in early 2020!
