ELEMENTI
IMAGING THE REAL WORLD

NO SHORTCUTS. NO APPROXIMATIONS
Conventional full-waveform inversion has long relied on finite difference methods. They work. But they come with real limits: complex geometries, material heterogeneities and intricate boundaries are where they struggle.
Elementi uses the spectral element method to model the subsurface as it truly is.
The result is accurate models, better decisions and real business value.
Finite difference got you this far. Elementi takes you further.

BEYOND THE GRID
A new standard for subsurface imaging
Elementi is Shearwater's advanced subsurface modelling and imaging solution, powered by the spectral-element method (SEM).
Where conventional finite-difference approaches rely on approximations to keep computation manageable, Elementi removes those compromises entirely.
SEM on unstructured meshes combines flexibility with high-order accuracy. The model follows the geology, not the other way around.
Complex geometries, highly heterogeneous material properties, intricate fluid-solid boundaries: Elementi handles all of it.
THE PHYSICS BEHIND THE PICTURE
Elementi implements state-of-the-art spectral-element wave-equation simulation for subsurface modelling and imaging, on unstructured meshes with adaptive refinement based on local wavelength. Computational resources go exactly where they are needed. No overhead. No compromise on resolution.
Going beyond acoustic physics, visco-elastic wave propagation delivers an end-to-end solution for high-confidence subsurface imaging. Elementi can model conventional multi-component seismic data and will soon support full inversion of all components. It can also model and invert for distributed fibre-optic (DAS) acquired strain recordings, making it ready for the most advanced acquisition technologies available today.
Elementi is a comprehensive solution for both modelling and inversion, available in three modes:
Acoustic SEM FWI — modelling and inversion using acoustic approximation physics
Elastic SEM FWI — modelling and inversion using full elastic physics
Multi-parameter SEM FWI — simultaneous inversion of multiple parameters including Vp, Vs and density, or velocity and impedance

BETTER
MODELS.
BETTER
DECISIONS
Full physics and high accuracy using the spectral-element method delivers improved subsurface models. Sharper models lead to better decisions.
Better decisions lead to real business value.
The clearest and most accurate imaging of the subsurface means faster decision-making and higher confidence across the entire seismic-processing value chain.

BUILT ON REVEAL
Elementi comes to you through Reveal, Shearwater's industry-leading processing and imaging software.
Trusted by energy companies, contractors and academics across all seven continents, Reveal is cloud-ready, continuously developed and backed by a dedicated team of geophysicists.
Elementi is the next step forward, available through the same platform you already rely on.
