Qmarine

Qmarine

Cables decend into open water. It's sunset. A offshore platform is on the horizon.
Q-marine is designed to be a 4D system. When it was developed it broke new ground in the industry by featuring the point receiver principle, calibrated marine sources, steerable source, steerable streamers, all integrated with the vessel steering for optimum 4D repeatability.
The principle of a point receiver system is to record the noise as well as the signal unaliased. This way, we can remove the noise in a controlled manner and leave the desired signal part of the record untouched. During processing, further de-noise can be performed to the desired level, based on the specific goals of the survey. The alternative is the dumb-sum approach of arrays –these imprint their response on the record, including the desired signal part. Though a small effect, it may affect the 4D result by smearing the high frequencies.
