Impact & responsibility

We acknowledge our obligation to protect the environment in everything we do. The reduction of our footprint within our operations is essential, if we want to succeed in moving towards solutions for climate change and secure energy access.

By implementing sustainable practices, we can create a positive impact on the environment.

EMISSIONS AND
CLIMATE IMPACT

We aim to reduce emissions through operational improvements, equipment and vessel upgrades, and industry collaborations.

Shearwater aligns with the principles of the Paris Agreement and supporting the UN Global Compact, working toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals

Our emission targets also align with the IMO's 2023 decarbonization strategy to achieve net-zero GHG emissions in the maritime industry by around 2050.

WASTE MANAGEMENT
AND POLLUTION

Shearwater supports responsible consumption with respect to the operation of our fleet, and the production of our seismic equipment.

We reduce our environmental footprint across operations by streamlining our asset inventory, via responsible disposal and recycling methods of end-of-life equipment and pursuit of sustainable alternatives to packaging used in our operations.

BIODIVERSITY
LOSS AND PROTECTION

Shearwater takes its responsibility to the marine ecosystem seriously, addressing biodiversity loss through environmental assessments, marine species protection, habitat restoration, and sustainable project designs.

We operate our fleet in compliance with international regulations to prevent pollution and the spread of harmful aquatic organisms, ensuring conservation alongside responsible offshore development.

SUSTAINABLE
SEAS
INITIATIVE

We are ongoing participants in the EnerGeo Alliance Sustainable Seas Initiative.

Like other members we are committed to creating a healthier ocean environment by collecting and responsibly disposing of marine debris, which is among the greatest dangers to marine life.
