Reveal 7.0 brings new data control, workflow updates and machine learning tools
5 Jan 2026
Reveal , Shearwater’s imaging and processing software, has a new edition available, delivering a wide set of updates across data management, infrastructure, processing tools and machine learning. The release includes over seven hundred code changes, with more than two hundred improvements and new features.
A key addition is the new Data Management view. This fully searchable view presents an expanded file-system tree of loaded projects, showing file size, ownership, modification dates and header extents. Users can quickly identify large files, delete or export data via right-click options, refresh caches, purge log files and locate orphaned data extents directly from the GUI.
Infrastructure updates include a new binary folder layout based on machine type, with guidance for users who build their own tools to update scripts accordingly. Reveal now also supports accounting flags for Slurm, LSF and PBSPro schedulers, allowing default or flow-specific accounting to be applied during job submission.
Job Chaining has been extended to support dedicated workers within chain submissions, while Archive and Restore tools gain new data selection options, improved restore targeting and optional removal of processing history.
Reveal 7.0 also introduces a new Machine Learning license package, which becomes the home for AI and ML tools within Reveal. It includes three new tools—DLSupervised, DLPatching and DLCheckNetworks—built on PyTorch and PyTorch Lightning, and builds on the refactored SupervisedDeepLearning framework.
Alongside these changes, the release delivers multiple viewer, flow editor, processing and imaging updates, including new geophysical tools and continued progress on Elementi integration.
Full details are available in the changelog and user group materials.
