Ocean bottom nodes

Node know how beneath the ocean
floor

Our interests, like yours, lie beneath the ocean floor. Our seismic experts are constantly developing and innovating to find the technologies that best meet your needs. We’re proud of our wide range of cost-effective, high-quality products and services, from remotely operated vehicle deployment methods to new source types. All designed to create the best survey for you.

Our current capability is based on the newest nodal technology, together with a mix of the industry’s most advanced purpose-built vessels.

REMOTELY OPERATED VEHICLES

We have scalable crews using purpose built seismic source vessels modified to deploy dual remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), capable of simultaneously deploying two lines of nodes 1,200m apart, together with access to additional ROV vessels. Combined with our unique source offerings, sub-contractor management, operational excellence and quality, health, safety and environment culture, this makes us your first-choice ocean bottom node provider.

NODE-ON-A-ROPE

Our shallow-water, ocean bottom node-on-a-rope (NOAR) capability means we can operate high-quality, safe, efficient operations for large-scale acquisition.
Autonomous nodes are attached to passive ropes. We can achieve fast deployments and retrievals. NOAR is similar to a seabed cable system but doesn’t need power and telemetry and can be used with almost any receiver spacing.

EFFICIENT
HYBRID

Hybrid surveys combine more than one technology – for example nodes and towed streamer – usually from a single asset. We’re experienced leaders in this, due to our multipurpose vessels – the SW Vespucci, SW Cook and SW Tasman, which have node handling systems, towed streamer spreads and source arrays. Using just one vessel and crew can increase efficiency considerably.

PEARL

Our newest technology, Pearl, is the world’s smallest and lightest long battery life ocean bottom node offering unparalleled efficiency and flexibility. It can be deployed using varied techniques, including, but not limited to, shallow water node-on-a-rope and deepwater ROVs.
And all are backed by the processing and imaging power of Reveal, our in-house software.
