Processing & imaging technology

Our processing technology portfolio is broad, deep and helps clarify the future for our clients. You’ll find an overview of our extensive services in this area below. For more detail and information on how we partner with clients in this field, please get in touch here.

BROADBAND PROCESSING

Our broadband processing technology comprises a suite of advanced broadband modules that reveal the important subsurface information at enhanced resolution.

Data bandwidth is extended and acquisition effects – including bubble energy, source directionality and interference from sea surface reflections – are removed. To do this we use the latest algorithms for source signature estimation, de-signature and de-ghosting, and which may be applied to legacy, conventional or broadband-acquired data.

Our broadband toolbox includes: far field signature estimation from near field hydrophones; directional source de-signature and de-ghosting; directional de-bubble for accurate low frequency amplitude and phase; directional receiver de-ghosting; receiver de-ghosting in calm and rough sea states; de-ghosting for flat, linear slant or curved cables; specific implementation for multi sensor streamers including Isometrix, Sercel MS and others.

SOURCE DE-BLENDING

Our de-blending separates dual, triple or multi-source overlapping shots. This allows acquisition to achieve denser survey geometries or more cost-efficient survey acquisition.

The de-blending toolbox includes: dual, triple, and multi-source de-blending; de-blending of natural dithers or controlled dithers, including apparition blended acquisition; both sparse inversion and rank reduction de-blending are available to select.

DEPTH IMAGING

Our depth imaging and model building tools incorporate well and cultural information into the same Reveal graphical user interface as all our other processing tools. This enables our geophysicists to combine surface seismic data with well logs and horizons to optimise the model building process.

The depth imaging toolbox includes: isotropic, VTI, TTI and orthorhombic Kirchhoff and beam; isotropic, VTI and TTI RTM, Q Kirchhoff and RTM; and migration from topography.

The model building toolbox includes: 2D/3D visualisation of seismic, horizons, models and well data; stack-sweep manual updating; isotropic, VTI, TTI or orthorhombic, non-parametric gridded tomography, Q tomography and FWI.

Least squares imaging optimization is also offered for both Kirchhoff and RTM algorithms.

OCEAN BOTTOM

Our ocean bottom technology allows full processing and imaging of the pressure wavefield from OBC/OBN data including Shearwater’s Pearl, along with all other proprietary node-on-a-rope and ROV node systems.

Our ocean bottom toolbox includes comprehensive tool kits for PP and PS data processing and imaging including OB specific QC attributes and displays.

Offshore QC and processing

Our onboard quality control and processing is setting a new industry standard with shot-by-shot far field estimation and QC using the near field hydrophones. Our onboard QC and processing are available on all our seismic vessels.

We use the same Reveal processing software system that is in our onshore processing centres. The onboard facilities allow for real time quality control of seismic data and high-end fast track volumes to be provided as part of the acquisition service.

4D time-
lapse

We offer full and fast track 4D processing from our experienced time lapse processors, including processing of towed streamer and OB 4D datasets.

Our 4D toolbox includes: 4D specific QC attributes and displays; deterministic and statistical matching, shot-by-shot NFH or data derived de-signature and de-ghosting; incorporating de-bubbling; 4D binning (including macro binning) and regularization including guided and X-reg, 4D warping, complex instantaneous attribute mapping, 4D water velocity corrections, 4D de-striping for amplitude, phase and frequency effects, 4D de-noise, 4D offset QCs and corrections.
