eSource

A rugged coastline with waves crashing against rocks, representing the marine environment where seismic sources operate

We strive to stick to the notion of “do no harm” to the environments we operate in. So, we are constantly seeking to innovate.

We’re proud to have been part of the successful development and adoption in the industry of eSource.

The eSource generates energy required for seismic imaging. Unlike conventional air sources, which emit acoustic energy across a wide range of frequencies, eSource suppresses high-frequency energy outside the required seismic bandwidth.

The eSource is easy to add and readily compatible with all our vessels and source controllers. And it’s quick to configure to one of three different attenuation levels – we swap a single mechanical component – depending on the seismic imaging needs.

We are committed to deploying eSource wider in our fleet as the standard
source, starting
with our flagship ROV vessel,
the SW Tasman

Shearwater’s SW Tasman vessel on open water, leading in eSource deployment for reduced environmental impact.
